The easiest way to work out your estimated KW use is to use an online calculator.
This tool will help you calculate the kilowatts (KW) required to heat a space on a cold day, in order to help you choose the correct size of wood-burner for your room.
It assumes it is cold outside, around -1ºc and you wish to have an ambient room temperature of around 20ºc.
Remember if you have stairs or adjoining rooms, to include these areas in the figures also as heat will rise up stair wells, or to adjoining room/rooms.
Enter your room values in metres and then press the ‘Go’ button

How often should I get my chimney swept?
HETAS encourage having your chimney swept at least twice a year when burning wood or bituminous house coal and at least once a year when burning smokeless fuels. The best times to have your chimney swept are just before the start of the heating season and after your stove has not been used over a prolonged period
Do stoves require a chimney or a liner?
All of our stoves require a suitable chimney or professionally installed flue system. A liner may or may not be required depending on flue conditions and only your installer can confirm.
